Terms of Service

These terms govern use of the CostLayers beta website, CLI, dashboard, and hosted API invoice mode. By using CostLayers, you agree to these terms.

Effective date: July 9, 2026. Contact: rishabh@costlayers.com.

Beta notice: CostLayers is provided for evaluation and controlled workflows. Do not rely on it for production-critical, regulated, or secret-heavy workloads until your team has completed its own review and any required agreement is in place.

Service Description

CostLayers is a cost-optimization layer for AI coding agents. It helps identify repeated context waste, measure token and cost reduction, route controlled API-billed workflows, and generate proof artifacts. It is not a model provider, model reseller, legal advisor, financial advisor, or replacement for your own quality and security review.

Accounts, Keys, and Access

Provider Accounts and Invoices

You remain responsible for your model provider account, provider terms, usage, prompts, outputs, content policy compliance, and invoices. ChatGPT-login mode may show usage-stretch estimates but does not reduce or control subscription billing. API invoice savings count only when API-billed traffic is explicitly routed through CostLayers and marked as invoice-backed or verified in the dashboard.

Acceptable Use

Quality and Savings Claims

CostLayers separates estimate, metered, invoice-backed, and verified savings labels. Estimates are not guarantees. Even verified exact replay rows prove only the rows shown in the proof bundle. You should run your own tests, evals, and review before adopting optimized workflows broadly.

Data and Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains what CostLayers processes, stores, and deletes. By using hosted features, you authorize CostLayers to process the data needed to provide those features. In API invoice mode, that includes transiently routing prompts, provider responses, and provider authorization through the hosted gateway. Response-body caching is disabled by default, requires explicit opt-in plus confirmation, and is intended for exact repeated-request savings proof.

Availability and Changes

The beta may change, fail, throttle, or be discontinued. Features, pricing, free access, limits, and public claims may change as the product matures. We will try to avoid disruptive changes, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CostLayers is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for lost profits, lost data, provider charges, business interruption, security incidents caused by user key handling, or indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the beta is to stop using it and delete local or hosted data as described in the Privacy Policy.

Enterprise Terms

Teams that need stronger commitments, private deployment, support SLAs, custom retention, named subprocessor review, data processing terms, or security review should contact rishabh@costlayers.com before production use. The public DPA draft at /docs/dpa-draft.html is a review artifact, not a signed agreement.
